2014 Goose Island Matilda - $11.95

In other news, Keith's Saphir Hop is also there. Review from my wife:
Ugh. God. It's so thin and tastes like metal. Awful.

Keith's saphir isnt too bad. But not good either. Little bit of caramel malt, and the hop flavour/aroma. That's about it.

I bought a goose island in Ontario and it was either 11.95 or 12.95.nice to see the markup being the same here as there.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

I really liked Sofie, $10.95 at ANBL. Nice funky beer.

I just picked these up. Going to need to show some restraint and not drink them right away lol.

Just buy a few, drink 1-2 now, and save 1-2 for later :drunk:

How long will these stay good for?

Few years I would think. I think they said up to 5 years on the bottle.

That's always a crap shoot question frankly... It's kind of a very subjective thing for the most part. I haven't had either of these beers (though may try and find some tonight!), but based on the description, I will probably buy 3 bottles - 1 for now, 1 a year from now, and 1 2 yrs from now. I think beyond that, they will start to deteriorate. But, again, that is subjective. As long as the beer is well packaged (not too much O2 pickup) and there is no chance of infection, it's not likely to ever become 'undrinkable', but may go past it's prime.

I thought the new book "Vintage Beer" had some pretty good guidelines when I read it. I think Beer Advocate has a cellaring guide as well, though not nearly as in depth as the book which gave a decent breakdown based on typical styles that would be aged.
