It works for Belgian monks and inspires them to make awesome beer.

Might be fun to try sometime!

Here's another guy you went on a beer diet last Spring:

About

Working to nourish their bodies through during the lengthy 46-day fast during Lent, the Paulaner monks of Neudeck ob der Au in Munich are credited with developing the doppelbock style of beer. Packed with carbohydrates, calories and vitamins, this unfiltered “liquid bread” sustained the monks from Ash Wednesday to Easter, and over 300 years later, the rich history and quality of this beer is well-known throughout the world.

With this in mind, I am embarking on a project to fast on doppelbock for the same 46-day stretch that the storied German monks once endured—and live to tell the tale. This will be no small undertaking. I will be working with both a doctor and a spiritual advisor as I attempt to tell the story of this facet of the monks’ livelihood. Eventually, there will be a book.

A homebrewer, certified beer judge, journalist and beer blogger at brewvana, I invite you to join me for the journey.

Bob Blumer did a Guinness diet for a week on his tv show. He was kinda fucked up at the end of the show iirc. Or maybe that was me, lol.

guinness size me is a doc about two guys who drink only Guiness for a week. They are kinda stupid about it, but the ending is great where he states "If you eat fast food for a month your going to get fat, if you drink Guiness for a week your going to get drunk" (or something along those lines).

That's awesome. The documentary on beer suggested beer was basically a staple in days past as fresh water was difficul to find... people largely subsisted on beer... lower abv than most of todays offerings but beer none the less.

I'd like to try but not sure if I could give up grilling for 30 days...

That was the first one of his shows I watched - hilarious! Especially when his buddy is supposed to be doing the diet with him, then tosses in the towel after 1 day and spends the rest of the week trying to tempt him.
