Big Spruce

Post by Graham.C » Wed Oct 31, 2012 12:51 pm

Looks like they are well on their way. Here is a good interview with Jeremy White which was posted on their facebook page. I don't know who the Atlantic Canadian Beer Blogger is but he is probably one of us (or friends with someone) from the sounds of his questions. I see leafman has commented, or just someone has the exact same profile pic.

One pound of wet hops per plant is a bad use of land IMHO. You'll be hard pressed to tell me that hop farming around here is anything more than a gimmick...hope the rest works out though. Advice from Piccaroons? :?
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Agreed. Considering I got 3.5lbs of Columbus (wet) and 3lbs. of Cascade (dry) off one plant of each this year, that seems like a really, really low yield.

I'm pretty sure he told me his bines are two years old.

****Correction...the article says it is year 3.

That seems like a really low yield for 3 year old plants. Then again, we have no idea what the last two years were like for them.

Yeah 1 pound for a 3 year old plant is not good at all. Maybe they just had a bad growing season, but even still... The plants look quite small in the photos of the hop yard, though maybe they were taken early in the season.
