BNL at Premier
From facebook:
Flying Monkeys/Barenaked Ladies collaboration Imperial Chocolate Stout
Opaque as chocolate cake, this roasty brew pours topped with a whipped mocha froth. The creamy dark cocoa gently warm with a steady 10%ABV. No bitterness to this stout, just a chocolate boldness that, like a happy memory or a perfect song, keeps on giving.
$17.99/750ml
(Extremely limited quantity of 72 bottles available on a first come first served basis.

Re: BNL at Premier
Just saw this on Facebook. My jaw dropped a little at seeing the price.
Prob. about 5 or 6 dollars more than I thought it'd be.

It's a bit higher than i thought too, but the packaging, and probably licensing fees add up I guess...not to mention the novelty mark-up.

3 bucks premium for something they will have no trouble offloading seems fair-ish. The LCBO probably gets a discount based on the quantity they sell too.

Re: BNL at Premier
From what I've had of the Flying Monkeys beers, I somehow doubt it will be worth $17.99, but provided they still have some left tomorrow, I'll buy a bottle for the hell of it.

I wonder if LCBO gives provincial discounts like we do with wine.RobD wrote:$13.95 at the LCBO.

It's $30 at the Garrison District Ale House in Fredericton.
It's very chocolaty, creamy mouthfeel. I really enjoyed it, but was happy to have split the bottle.

I grabbed one. If all they have is 72 bottles, I suspect they priced it higher to keep it in stock a bit longer. It'll go fast.
And yes, completely different purchasing structure for LCBO's entire system vs. one store in NS. Not so much a "discount" as the LCBO says "we'll sell this, this is the price, give us this many bottles, and oh yeah, this is how much we'll give you".

Don't forget "this is how much you can sell it for yourself". Such a broken system.BobbyOK wrote:I grabbed one. If all they have is 72 bottles, I suspect they priced it higher to keep it in stock a bit longer. It'll go fast.

Anyone try it yet? Split a bottle up 4 ways last night and we were all blown away. First chocolate beer I've ever had that tastes, smells, looks like chocolate. I'm going back today to buy another one to tuck away if there's any left.

Out of curiousity sake, how's it compare to Youngs Double Chocolate?Jayme wrote:Anyone try it yet? Split a bottle up 4 ways last night and we were all blown away. It's been a while since I tried Youngs, but the two are not even comparable!canuck wrote:Out of curiousity sake, how's it compare to Youngs Double Chocolate?Jayme wrote:Anyone try it yet?
