I'm good. But ask Randy if he knows about the diacetyl problems in the bottles we get in town.

Whenever I ask a question like that the person becomes very defensive.

I was wondering what that flavour was in the pale ale I tried.

Yeah, I would say you'd have a better chance of being kicked down the well than getting any kind of acknowledgement of the situation.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

I was looking at the prices if you could get me a growler of the Blue Heron Extra Special Bitter, Rojo Mojo Red Ale, Port in the Storm Porter that would be great. I do not have growler so would need new ones.

Sorry, I was gone by then and the pub didn't have wifi. I spent three hours there working and drinking (maybe not in that order) and would have liked to have been on-line (anyone connected with the Port listening?).

You run the kitchen? Well in that case, can you sneak me a steak on April 14th instead of whatever chicken dish the rest of the wedding party is getting? ;)

Edit: Seriously though, the chicken is fine, but if you're working that day I'd love to meet you and say hi.

It was awesome fresh, as always; especially after hiking for an hour along the dike from Wolfville in 28° heat. The view didn't hurt either. I just wish the patio furniture had been put out.

Did you have it on site or in bottles? If the latter then it was likely diacetyl. The fresh one I tried in the pub had a distinct lager taste to it, despite being an ale.

I had it in the bottle. Definitely had a weird butterscotch note to it, at the time I thought maybe it was some weird speciality malt that I just didn't like :? . I really should start trying to develop my taste buds.

The Blue Heron ESB was much more enjoyable though.

A cynic might say that that's because a little diacetyl isn't inappropriate in an ESB :-)
Currently on tap: Whiter Shade of Pale!
In keg: .
In Primary: Nothing

I'm in Kentville for the week and will likely be spending my suppers at Port Pub. Any suggestions for food there?

Maybe tomorrow night, already ordered.

There is quite a difference in the beer on tap vs cans/bottles. I'm 2 beers in and have no complaints!

I'm here until Thursday, heading home in the afternoon. So basically, I'm good for tomorrow night or Wed night. Shoot me a PM and we can figure it out.
