Yes, George Christakos did recently visit Nectar Restaurant and Wine Bar to check out the dimensions of the space.
But no, despite the rumours, he’s not moving his Brooklyn Warehouse restaurant across the bridge or even opening a new burger place in downtown Dartmouth.
Christakos and chef Mark Gray are collaborating with North Brewing owner Peter Burbridge to put on an event for Halifax Craft Beer Week, being held next month for the first time.
Burbridge lives in Dartmouth, and Christakos just bought a property there.
“We were saying that there’s nothing happening in Dartmouth for Craft Beer Week, and he wanted to get something in that community so he reached out to us to do a beer pairing,” Christakos said Thursday.
“We were trying to think of where to make it happen so we called Nectar and talked to them about using their dining room and their staff, but the deal didn’t go the way we wanted it to. So we moved the conversation to Zane (Kelsall, at Two if by Sea), who was pretty happy to pick it up.
“We’re looking to do a craft beer event in Dartmouth because no one else is giving anything to that part of the city for this Craft Beer Week, which is kind of a sin.”

Christakos and Burbridge are still working out the details of their six-course meal, including the price, but expect to be able to seat 50 diners/beer lovers.
They’re also consulting with chef Renee Lavallee, whose restaurant the Canteen is upstairs from Two if by Sea, to make sure they don’t “step on her toes.”
“(Kelsall is) really excited about it and gave us the go-ahead to use the space. That’s why it’s hard for me to say it’s 100 per cent going down, but we do have to get it sorted because it’s kind of around the corner,” said Christakos, who feels Brooklyn Warehouse and North Brewing are, if you’ll pardon the pun, a natural pairing.
“We were the first place to take North beer on tap. When I heard that he was getting going I told him we would really like to have his product at Brooklyn, so we were his first licensee account and it’s been a good relationship since then.”
