I kind of liked the music while I was there, lot of 80s american punk, right up my alley. Even though I liked it, it is not the right music for a bar by a long shotCorneliusAlphonse wrote:Nope stereo system and "hipster music" is perfect

Yeah I was being snarky with my reply, but every time Ive been there I either haven't noticed the music, or thought it was a good selection of songs. I think they should keep doing what they're doing honestly - it works great for me, and every time Ive been there, any time and day of the week, it has been quite busy.

Music is not the problem. The volume is. Us oldies who abused there ears in a former life need a certain level of din.

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
Young people often accused of being in the "hipster" crowd sometimes complain about the loudness too. It gets cranked in the later hours. It's quite reasonable in the daytime and early evenings. And the selection is great. And I know that I can reliably get good beer and not have a major distraction: I'm there for beer and conversations with friends.GAM wrote:Music is not the problem. As I've said previously in this thread, someone should start a craft beer-focused sports bar. You'll never see me there, but clearly there's demand for it.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

And that's the issue in a nutshell. The need to classify, the need of a homogenized environment.benwedge wrote:You'll never see me there...

That's fine, you don't have to, it's not like Clockwork Orange.

Don't turn the sound on at all. Leave the music on. Although I have found that when the place was full, the music was just adding noise to a noisy room.

I'm with you on that one. I don't see the need for music when it's a decent sized crowd - there's already enough noise to talk over. The music does serve a purpose when it's not as busy, and you can actually hear the music and your conversation.mr x wrote:Although I have found that when the place was full, the music was just adding noise to a noisy room.

Going in at opening
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe
