Belgians for Belgian Lovers

Post by Blake » Fri Aug 11, 2023 3:37 pm

Heads up to all Belgian Style Lovers: Bishop's Cellar on Lower Water Street in Halifax has a decent selection of Belgians. If you want to see more Belgian styles locally, check these out and think about supporting them because they are trying to bring hard-to-find beers into Nova Scotia, and beers that NSLC does not carry. Also, they ship to you if you are not in Halifax!

Here is a partial list:
The Hard to Find List...
1. 3 Fonteinen Oude Keiek;

2. 3 Fonteinen Golden Blend (375 ml);

3. 3 Fonteinen Gueze (375 ml);

4. 3 Fonteinen Intens Rood (375 ml);

5. De Ranke XXX Bitter (750 ml);

6. De Ranke Cuvée de Ranke (750 ml);

and the usual suspects...
7. Lindemans Oude Gueuze 2020 (750 ml)

8. Lindemann Oude Kriek 2021 (750 ml);

9. Lindemann Kriek Lambic Beer (375 ml);

10. Lindemann Framboise (sour) (375 ml);

11. Fruit Strawberry Beer (375 ml);

12. Saison Dupont (750 ml);

13. Duchesne de Bourgogne Flanders Red (375 ml);

14. Delirium Tremens Belgian Golden (375 ml);

15. Chimay BLUE and WHITE (330 ml).

Has anyone picked up anything? If you are not storing some of these, please pass along your tasting notes.

I splurged and bought the "3 Fonteinen Golden Blend" but am storing it for a few years. I will say that I have enjoyed the Duchesse-de-Bourgogne this summer despite not being a fan of Flanders Reds. Nice malt with pleasant tart and great dry, complex finish.

Tasting?

If there is interest, perhaps we can arrange a tasting of some of these Belgians. Any interest?

Hey Everyone:

All the "Fonteinen" Belgians are now on sale at Bishop's Cellar. Get them and store them before they are gone!

I'll pick up some Belgians and we can find a convenient time to do a tasting.
