From Premier Wine & Spirits Facebook page:
Teaser: By the end of the week we'll have a full range of new beers from one of California's leading breweries.
Anyone have the inside scoop? Stone perhaps?

I'd also love to see Pizza Port, Russian River or Bear Republic.

My guess is Bear Republic, they've been showing up a lot more in Canada lately.

May have to try and pop in to check it out Friday before the Propeller Cask Night!

If you insist on hints I can tell you the brewmaster is a lady.

Bear Republic has a female Brewmaster right? Seems like you might be onto something Jeff...

I think they have a female brewer, but I believe the brewmaster is male (one of the owners).

owners Richard R Norgrove, and wife Sandy, Richard G Norgrove, (Brew Master) and wife Tami
I'm not sure if that quote from their website means Richard G Norgrove is the Brew Master or if it's his wife Tami.

Pretty sure it's Richard that's the brewmaster

But then in the service I got introduced to beer.

It wouldn't surprise me if they mixed up brewer and brewmaster, but that doesn't help narrow the choices. Bear Republic, Ninkasi, and Stone all have female brewers. Moylan's is the only one I can find a reference to the Brewmaster being a woman - Hopsickle Triple IPA would be a nice find here.

Moylan's would be a good line-up.

And it's not much of a teaser when they add it to the website before it arrives:

Search for Moylan's and there's 8 altogether.

I've had their Kilt Lifter. Sherbrooke Liquor carried it regularly when I lived in St. Albert. It's a pretty decent Scotch Ale.

I take it not one of those 'Scotch Ales' where they use a shit ton of peat smoked malt? Fuck I hate that shit in beer!

Not that I recall. I think it's a somewhat traditional Wee Heavy. It's been 3 or 4 years since I've had it.

Cool - traditional versions don't use peat IIRC - anyhow, I'll find out soon enough!

Exactly. That smoky sort of taste should come from kettle carmelization.

Yes, we've had that discussion before. While I enjoyed the scotch ale my friend made with the peated/smoked malt, he did not. I looked it up and technically a scotch ale with peated/smoked malt actually belongs in the Other Smoked Beer category.

Yeah it's not a smoked beer at all. I'm fine with adding some Bamburg to beers of that nature, but peat just rubs me the wrong way.
