Garrison is hiring - career change anyone
Before you guys go wait in line for some Ole Fog Burner, why not print off a resume and bring it with you.
They're hiring an assistant brewer and someone for the bottling line.

Tempting, but I don't think Peter would be pleased if I applied for this.

I don't think I want the pay cut (I'm assuming).

Re: Garrison is hiring - career change anyone
When I was in to grab the beer I talked to (the guy who I presume is the manager/owner, but not Daniel) about beer, brewing and the job.
He said that although they would desire someone with 2 years experience in a brewery, all-grain home-brew experience would be an asset too. He's pretty much expecting to train someone from scratch and after we chatting her encouraged me to drop in a resume. Tempting...but I dont think I'm ready to change careers again and the pay cut would prolly be too much as well.
So looks like its pretty open.

Re: Garrison is hiring - career change anyone
I was having printer issues last night, so I'm going to drop one off. I was told that despite it not being posted, they may be looking for a couple part-timers, and I need the extra income (still in school.) It'd be a fun gig!

Any of you guys get this awesome gig? I threw my hat into the ring with a simple resume... Couldn't decide if I should drop off a few bottles of homebrew along with it to help my chances.
Regardless, couldn't think of a better way to put myself through school than getting my hands dirty at a craft brewery!

From an insiders point of view: If you apply for a job at a craft brewery and want to increase your chances of landing the job over others, bring your homebrew. In fact it's a bit disappointing when homebrewers don't furnish their wares. It screams passion and confidence no matter how good or bad the beer may be.

Wow. I was planning to head down to drop off a resume tonight but that may be in bad taste now... (A little birdie had said they *may* be looking for part-timers)

Are you sure that's the same guy? His name is spelled differenet than the one in the paper?
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

vs

At the very least, the shadow around his eyes, and the shape of his nose and ears look similar in both pictures, though I'm no forensic photo-matching expert. Additionally, Nash says it's the same guy, and he'd be quite likely to know.

That's the spelling of his name as I know it depending on which article you read, lol. It's Qian or his twin, an inside source alerted me to this yesterday.LiverDance wrote:Are you sure that's the same guy? His name is spelled differenet than the one in the paper?

Your right, the brewers name is spelled Qian but the article says it's a guy named Quin. Either way it's bad news.

Just edited my post to make slightly more sence.LiverDance wrote:Your right, the brewers name is spelled Qian but the article says it's a guy named Quin.
Read the Herald or other articles for his name spelling.

Exactly. He used to work at Pump House if I understood correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong, Nash, but the next logical career move would've been the fart and whistle, no?

From the few times I'd talked to him he seems to be tied to Daniel. He came from Pumphouse with Daniel when he went to Garrison. I think they had worked together for quite a while.

The guy who got killed was Shelley's sister's brother-in-law. He had worked for the UN in Africa for a long time. He wound up with malaria and was living back here now for a few years. Not sure why/how this situation came about...
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.
