Quidi Vidi

Post by homebrewcrew » Thu Aug 23, 2012 8:06 am

Went on the Quidi Vidi brewery tour yesterday in St. Johns. The tour itself was awful but they had some great beers. I ended up going at 11:00am and I was the only male out of all ten of us. We got to try all there beers the Iceberg or the 1882 were my favorites of the bunch. The best part was at the end everyone got a bottle of beer to take with them, but no one wanted any :o . So everyone ended up giving me and my girlfriend all there beers so we end up with 10 mixed bottles of Quidi Vidi beer and I bought a six pack of the Iceberg beer. All in all a good visit to the Quidi Vidi brewery.

The tour can be iffy, my guide was pretty fun last August. Did you check out the Inn of Olde down the road? That place has character.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Yup, I've been on the tour as well and thought it was pretty good as tours go. You have to look at it from the 'non-brewing' public.. they dont' really care about the equipment/process all that much. I enjoyed the tasting portion, for obvious reasons, but also because they did a good job talking about each beer, the history behind it, etc. Great location, cool spot.. some pretty good beers (nothing really all that adventurous but well made).

I did not get to see the inn I did hear about it after we left. Maybe next time.

Also the history of the beer and the tasting was great I agree. But would like to see their equipment. Like I said for $10 it was worth it.

Are you going to be in town this weekend. If so, we could get together for a pint at the YellowBelly.

I'd say the best thing about QV is the location. The tour is "meh", and the beer, in my opinion, is missable.
