Re: Port Pub/Sea Level
New beer on today, first night, Southern Cross IPA. Lately there hasn't been one I've liked. Couldn't drink that one sadly.
Had a nice supper and glass of Villa Maria Valpolicella.

Sea Level can fill level:
Decided to film opening up a couple of cans, figured it was time to document this problem.

Could be worse - you could be getting less than the advertised amount. Luckily their lack of carbonation prevents them from exploding and making even more mess.

I didn't enjoy it. Too toffee/caramel of an IPA for my liking, didn't work with the hops.
But perhaps I'm biased, I really prefer IPAs on the dry side.

Re: Port Pub/Sea Level
I had the porter at Stillwell on Saturday. Was OK, but could use some recipe tweaking (or maybe water) for me. Tame compared to my all time fav, London Porter.

Yes that was a response to my tweet about Southern Cross throwing off some serious buttery notes. It smelled like a bag of microwaved popcorn, I didn't say it was a diacetyl bomb, just a heavy buttery scented mess, nothing i was looking for in an IPA. And it seems to be the "terroir" of Sea Level sadly these days.

Re: Port Pub/Sea Level
Had a nice lunch with Jimmy and Becky. Max was super cranky (my 5 year old) from no sleep and having a cough. Wasn't bowled over by the beers but the company was good. Always nice when some Brewnosers head up here to the valley. Congrats on that glycol chiller. Great toy. I was envious. Everyone was talking about my "chick beer", like that was it's name, but I swear Mumblecrunch, I didn't say the word chick once.

Re: Port Pub/Sea Level
Article is misleading (in more than that way), Tata is not using solely Horton Ridge malt for their beer.

Maybe she was distracted by the clicking of glasses while writing (righting?) the article?

Re: Port Pub/Sea Level
If Randy propagated the yeast himself, got it from a previous batch even, I think he can call it Nova Scotian. Just like the hop plants and the seed for the malt might have come from somewhere else.
Most beer ingredients originate from Europe. Most Nova Scotian people are of European decent also. I'm not Nova Scotian because I was born in the UK, but I think my son is. Wife is also Nova Scotian.
A well known company legally advertises that their power tools are made in the USA. As far as I know, they have an assembly plant in the USA, putting together bits and pieces from China. That's not right in my books.
Randy is promoting his own beer for sure but is also promoting local products. Just like the local wine industry, which is becoming big business, uses NS grown grapes, I think it's good.
