Re: Official Stillwell Thread
ICYMI, taplists for this weekend have been posted!
Friday from noon:
Saturday from noon:
Graeme's doing MTL-style smoked meat sandwiches & poutine. Dieu du Ciel co-founder Stéphane Ostiguy & co will be on hand to rap if anyone wants to talk beer! No tickets, so pop by at your leisure. Only one keg of each, but they should last the afternoon into the evening as lots of folks will drink smaller pours.
Cheers!

Great location - just a couple of blocks from the office!mumblecrunch wrote:I'll just leave this right here.
That's the right place, IMHO. Brewnoser may well take "stumbling home across the commons" to dazzling new heights this summer

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
May be a long shot, but if anyone is stopping by Spindrift before hitting Stillwell this afternoon I would love to have a 1L growler of the 7th wave release (Ming Tran Brett Pale Ale). I will bring some cash or can buy you a couple of beers at Stillwell to cover the cost of beer + bottle. I'll be at Stillwell from 4-7 or so. Post here if you can help me out! Thanks.
Enjoying: Black Sheep (Dark Farmhouse with Brett)
Fermenting: NZ Pale Ale, Orval Clone, Berliner Weisse, Brett APA
Planning: Old Rasputin Clone

I tried six of the 12 beers today - really liked 5 of them. Wasn't a big fan of the "wheat beer dry hopped with sterling" on tap 1.

I tried seven (the ones that were new to me). I agree with tap 1 - I was expecting more, but it seemed kind of muted to me. I also didn't like the maple scotch ale, but I really don't care for maple beer in general. Looking forward to today's list!MitchK wrote:I tried six of the 12 beers today - really liked 5 of them. Re: Official Stillwell Thread
yeah, that mango sour and the dubbel were the two I tried from the saturday list - the mango one was great, the dubbel I thought leaned more towards the roast-y flavors and less towards the rum+raisin I usually go for in that style.

Should be an official announcement soon if all goes well today. I know you shouldn't read the comments on online articles, but I wonder how many of the haters said the same stupid comments last year, and were thoroughly proven wrong. OMG, there's a beer garden 200m away from my children! Maybe they'll be lured in and become alcoholics!
They need to ban the consumption of alcohol at home when minors are present. It only makes sense, right?

Yeah I read something too about it being right across from residential buildings.... pretty sure there are apartments above most of the bars downtown! Seems like the classic, not in my backyard.

Had some of the DDC beers at Stillwells today. Heretique (oak fermented with Brett) - tart with underlying oak, very nice. Rigor Mortis tripel and Quad, quad was great. Tripel was good but a bit heavy for a tripel (to me). Best though was Isseki Nicho Pinot, a black saison aged In pinot noir barrels - amazing aroma and flavour!

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
I think looking back on the beer heretique was definitely my favourite.
That Isseki Nicho Pinot was one hell of a flavour bomb. So many different aspects.

Go Derek! Have to show the rest of these guys how Sackvegas brews! Although competition is thick. Shitty thing is I have to work for our network uplift. Might be able to get out for the imperial session!

Good luck to no one, I've gotta defend my title!
Just kidding, hope we're drinking 24 solid beers that day! Would be cool if a homebrewer took the title(s) again. Will be a fun event!
