Re: Official Stillwell Thread
Some great stuff coming down the pike for the fall at the bar: https://www.instagram.com/p/BLOik0iAz-y/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
November 5th we're doing a tap takeover with West Avenue Ciders from Hamilton. One of if not the best cidery in Canada in our opinion. Tons of barrel-aged ciders (spirit and/or funky), some beautiful single varietals & a really rad scrumpy I hope they send us.
November 20th (or maybe that whole weekend?) we're doing the ol' Stillwell birthday celebrations; bar is turning three. We'll announce the specific tap list(s) closer to the event, but there will be some pretty cool stuff from the cellar, from NS breweries, our own new saison currently fermenting at North + some rare debut liquids from beyond our borders.
Dec 10th we're featuring Bissell Brothers & Orono Brewing from Maine, both of which are doing some really cool stuff in the hoppy beer department. Don't know much about Orono just yet but we've been travelling to Maine for years specifically to pick up cans of Bissell. Very stoked!
& we don't have a date locked down for this one, but we're also working on a major two-day event featuring 24 beers from Mikkeller. The list is pretty silly so far, with flavours running the full spectrum.
Hope some of y'all can make it out for these events

(The Catalyst ciders are barrel-fermented, aged on fruit & then dry-hopped!)

Wasn't that a party. Congratulations again Chris, Laura, Andrew and crew. My planned 2 hour stay somehow turned into 5. That Cantillon tasted better than ever.

Glad I threw caution to the wind and bought a ticket for Beaumont the moment I saw it - looks like they're all gone already! Now to speculate on those that have never been available in NS before...

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
News for the concerned beer nerd:
-Couple of awesome Belgian beers hitting the menu today; De Ranke XX Bitter (tasting fresh/awesome), and Brasserie de Blaugies Saison d'Epautre, one of my favourite authentic Belgian saisons.
-Doing a couple of bottle features in the coming weeks, bottle pours from Green Bench (a really cool Florida brewery doing funky stuff) and Switzerland's awesome Trois Dames, who specialize in bottle conditioned sour beer.
-To Øl is the 22nd here, really awesome list of beers to drop in the next couple days. Broad variety for sure.
-The Stillwell Open is May 7, lot of homebrewers and pro brewers debuting a bunch of beers, judged by the crowd from 12-3 pm, then we reveal the winners and the party will continue as we toast everyone for the efforts. Most brewers will be in attendance.
-The next day we're hosting Stephen Beaumont for a guided tasting, which will end at four pm. Two beers are debuting here during that tasting (and will be on the bottle menu as of then): Brasserie de la Senne's Taras Boulba (potentially my favourite beer on Earth?), and Brasserie Thiriez's Blonde d'Esquelbecq, which will make you feel bad if you've ever brewed with 3711
-Beergarden will be the next thing, and we've got some German beer to feature as we launch for the season: Ritterguts Gose (the best version of the original) on draught and in bottle, and a few bottles from Friegeist Bierkulture out of Cologne.
Cheers all & Happy spring!

I know at least a few of us who have entries in the Open will be there (Chalmers, Liverdance, me). Wouldn't be surprised to see Keith and the Bràthair boys as well.GAM wrote:Anyone heading down today?

Opening is at noon starting with blind tasting. Winners announced at 3ish. Then the real drinking starts.

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
It was pretty nutty 'til about 4, probably doubly as popular as years past; wasn't expecting that. My theory is: the beer is getting better so more people are drinking it! Maybe we'll sort out a way to make it less crazy next year

Good on you guys. A busy Sunday is better than a dead one.
All I could picture is 3 flights of 4 and a score card with no table.

We stood the whole time and had fun. It was busy, and everyone was in a good mood.

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
Upcoming stuff:
-Bottle pours of four beers from Switzerland's Trois Dames, specialists in mixed-ferm sours, this Saturday.
-Next Saturday: Fresh Bellwoods kegs & bottles. Hoppy stuff mostly, some sours. Yes!
-Big Stillwater Artisanal drop; fresh cans for the Beergarden including Yacht & Extra Dry, then a weekend feature of some really cool kegs. Really soon but no solid date yet. Maybe the following weekend!
Cheers all

Walked by the old Waterfront location today - how happy are you right now that you DIDN'T get that one back?
