Getting a job in a Local Brewery (Halifax)

Post by bizarromarc » Tue Jun 30, 2015 4:07 pm

Hey Everyone.

I just moved to the east coast and I'd love to take my homebrew hobby to a professional level. Can you give me any help as to getting a job in a brewery in Halifax? People i should talk to etc. I've worked in 3 brewpubs giving tours, and tastings, and I'm trying for my full cicerone certification and of course I home brew. So i can talk the talk, now i want to walk the walk. Any help is appreciated

Marc Wilson

Welcome to the region!

What type of job are you looking for? Brewer, server, bottling line guy?
Drink their beer, get to know each brewery's styles.
Check out their websites to get an idea of their philosophies and attitudes, as being a brewer is just like any job: interpersonal drama can make a "dream job" a shitty place to work.
This may be worth a listen: http://thebrewingnetwork.com/shows/1067" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My suggestion would be to drop by the breweries in town with a resume and a sixpack of your homebrew (if you are hoping to brew), and chat with the manager or owner.

I think Garrison is looking for someone for their bottling line

...and if you want to live in Edmundston, Petit Sault is looking for an assistant brewer
