Seaforth Brewing
Greetings to all from the fabulous and rugged Seaforth / Eastern Shore!
I started brewing back in '99 with an infamous can of extract Yukon Brown Smoked Ale that has scarred me from smoked ales to this very day. Thankfully I discovered extract / grain tea and fresh hops recipes shortly thereafter from Noble / Brewing Centres and haven't looked back. The last 5 years I've started experimenting a bit more with gluten free, spruce beer, hopping experiments as well as growing my own hops. Each new chapter has been just as educational and delicious as the last. That being said, i feel like I'm coming to a new brewing crossroads as I recently inherited a DIY'd all-grain set up with a 15 gal keg boiler and cooler mash tun. While me and my brew partner have been getting this gear up to production ready, I've been learning a bit more and realizing what glorious new beer flavours await! As I type, I am sitting in front of a very aromatic 20+ lbs of freshly cracked malt grains and am getting ready to cut my teeth on my first all-grain recipe with a simple Belgian Saison this weekend. So thankful that I ran into Dave at Everwood through this forum earlier today, pretty sure without him in the area I couldn't have gotten geared up for this weekend sans mail order... even if he is 1 hour away!
This looks like a pretty dedicated forum and I'm excited to continue learning, hopefully contribute something, and maybe even share a beer with you all one of these days.
Cheers - Jer

Re: Seaforth Brewing
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
