New Guy

Post by jacinthebox » Tue Oct 16, 2012 12:54 pm

Hey everyone,
First off, great site, very helpful.

I'm new to Home brewing, my buddy's bought me a beer making setup for my Birthday back in September.

I'm starting with the Festa Brew kits...just to learn the basics about temp and timing.

I have 3 festas in various stages now

Cont Pilsner in the Bottle (for 2 weeks now)...(turned out really well)
Bock in the bottle (since this past Friday) (tasted great at time of bottling)
West Coast IPA in the secondary (since Sunday) (smells great)

I also Have a KenRidge red wine started.

Winter plans...all grain, Lager style (researching recipes now)...my brew buddy has a set-up and will help teach me the ways lol.
I am also looking into kegging, and a tap set up...

I look forward to starting to learn and enjoy the craft.

Welcome.

Lots of great knowledge on this site, and plenty gatherings to meet people & try new beer.

Also on the horizon is learn to homebrew day. There is a possibility that we may be doing something for that if you'd like to see the all grain process.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome aboard!

Hopefully we hear back from Noble Grape about partnering for the Learn2Brew day, otherwise we are self sufficient. :)

It's the name of the bar we built at my brew buddy's place...he's from Glace Bay (where the Main Event Bar is, and my mudder is from Glace Bay aswell.
So we named it The Main Event II lol

Thats why I ask. I have frequented the Strange Event in my younger years. A old friend of mine is Manager or Owner/Manager there.

I was wondering about that sign as well, as I'm from Glace Bay originally. :cheers3:
