Re-Introduction

Post by Beaton1T » Thu Jun 13, 2013 11:36 am

Hi All,

I have been a member of this forum for a couple of years now, but have not been active. I've been busy finishing school, but now have free time again to brew more beer! I am hoping to become more active in the brewnoser community away from the keyboard and participate in some meet ups in the HRM as well as getting my hands dirty and begin all-grain brewing soon enough!

Do any of you have any other suggestions for becoming more active with the brewing community in Halifax? I really just wanna talk to ear off of some fellow beer-obsessed zymurgists, share some pints, and meet some new people.

For the past two years in school, I've made about 10 batches of partial mash kits from the Noble Grape, one completely extract kit, and one small (1 gallon) stove-top all-grain batch with varying degrees of success. I recently acquired a sanke keg from a friend for free (score! :D ) and I have ambitions to buy fittings and turn it into a BIAB keggle. I am so excited to do all-grain.

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting some folks sooner than later! :cheers3:

Here's a pic of my newly acquired keg:

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

:welcome: Keep your eye on the events section for get togethers and also the Rockbottom and Hart and Thistle threads as there are always impromptu meet ups in those pubs.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Awesome! I live in downtown Halifax and frequent Rockbottom and H&T for their beer selections anyway. I look forward to some impromptu meetups!

My suggestion would be to gather a lot of NS micro brews ( especially from Nash's stash ) take a hike over here to Nfld and share them with me. You can talk my ear off anytime then,

Welcome again :welcome:
