Greetings BrewNosers!

Post by ThePubMagazine » Tue Oct 01, 2013 7:50 pm

Hi folks - Just wanted introduce myself and The Pub Magazine to the BrewNosers. I attended a meeting many years ago (2001 if my memory hasn't completely been wiped clean from years of "market research"). My name is Troy Kirkby, some of you might know me as I built and operated The Spitfire Arms Alehouse in Windsor from 2002-2011. I sold the pub to new owners in July of 2011.

In December of 2012 I relocated back to Ontario and began working for The Pub Magazine there in January 2013 as DSM and writer. However the Maritimes called me home in June and I decided to buy the rights to use the name and branding an launch an Atlantic Edition covering the Atlantic provinces. Looking forward to bringing this unique magazine publication to our part of the world. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the next meeting as I will be on a five day networking, ad sales and writing tour of Northern NS and Cape Breton.

If anyone is interested in participating in the magazine in any capacity, I welcome the conversation. Please feel free to get in touch.

Cheers, Troy

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome (back)!

A magazine dedicated to our local pubs? Sounds good to me! Looking forward to it.

Hello, I was really excited when I read your post. This could be an amazing venture and asset to the beer community.

Starting a pub, and now a local beer magazine. I’m a bit jealous.

Good luck.

Cheers everyone! Thanks for the enthusiasm, makes all this bloody hard work putting the first issue together worth while. Aaaaand then there's the beer!

I'm heading over to visit The School House Brewery in Falmouth this afternoon. There will be a feature article in the first issue about Cam and his journey into craft brewing. I'll be posting a preview on our Facebook page tomorrow.

In case you're wondering where you can find your copy - it will be available free of charge at all good pubs & breweries in NB, PEI and NS. Tell your favourite bartender, manager, owner and fellow imbiber's to check out our social media sites. Spread the GOOD word, The Pub Magazine is here!

Troy

Excellent stuff, Troy! Do you have a list of pubs in NB that the Pub Magazine will be available?
