Hello from the Annapolis Valley

Post by ajinthevalley » Sun Sep 11, 2016 8:35 pm

Hello all,

My name is Aaron. I am just getting into brewing. I have my first Festa Brew bottled. My hope is to gather the necessary equipment to start doing all grain beers. I think my favorite beer is a German Alt Bier. Hope to learn lots here and enjoy this great hobby.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard! (Geez, only 10 days late)

Lots of members in the Valley, you'll fit right in!

Need any help acquiring all grain equipment, or knowledge, you've come to the right place!

Awesome thanks, I know I need at least a kettle, wort chiller, and the stuff to convert my rectangle Colman xtream cooler into a mash tun. I am hoping to start out brewing indoors on my kitchen stove. Not sure how practical that is but looking at cost savings. Want to be able to make good beer on the cheap. lol.

Hi Aaron!

I'm in the valley too (Bridgetown). You're welcome to come over for an all-grain brew day to check it out if you like. Not sure when the next one will be, but I can PM you with a heads-up.

Hoping next brew day will include a Mosaic SMaSH using yeast harvested from Focal Banger =D

I used to brew indoors on my kitchen stove, and it worked OK. Propane outdoors is much faster though.

I'm pretty sure this hobby has cost me way more than it's saved, but maybe you have more self-control re: gear acquisition!

Mark,

That would be great. I would love to learn the ropes. Self-control is not one of my strong suits. We will see how it goes. I just hear stories of these amazing brews that only cost $30 - $40 to make and I'm like WHAT!!!!! I will have to look at propane burns...
