Hello from New Glasgow

Hi:

Just joined the forum and it's great to be here. I've been brewing for 9 years. I always do 5 gallon all-grain batches, except once I tried a FestaBrew (which was tasty but kind of boring to make). I keg all my beer--haven't used a single bottle since I went to kegs about 5 years ago. I like to develop all my own recipes. Some have been OK, some were fantastic, and one or two quickly found their way into the local waste treatment plant. I'm currently drinking a basic Pale Ale, and I want to do an IPA next. If anyone has a great tried and true recipe for the perfect IPA, I'd love to see it.

Bottoms up!

:welcome: to the forum.

There's tons of great recipes for a great IPA. Unfortunately my perfect IPA likely isn't your 'perfect' IPA since taste is subjective. Some like a shitload of hops, others not so many, and my 'shitload' is likely way different than your 'shitload'

There might be a good chance of that

This is my go to IPA. It is middle of the road and I often add hops and or grain as I feel.

It is dark but the sweetness from the crystal is needed I think.

9kg 2-row
1kg crystal 60L
.1kg chocolate
1 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 30 min.)
2 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)

Well, surely New Glasgow is big enough to have more than one real beer lover.

Thanks for the feedback on the IPA. I'll just have to experiment to get it just right. I'm sure it will take many, many iterations. At least, I hope it will.....

Are you any relation to Stan Liska. There can't be that many of you down there...
