Setting up for my first brew.

So instead of starting in the shallow end of the pool, I am doing a backflip off the 30m board into the deep end.

I have made a fair bit of wine both by myself and with others, and I want to start brewing my own beer. I have become hooked on Hefewiezens, Dunkels, and Wits.

I want to set up so that I can brew in the garage, with my fermenting carboy being put in the basement (where outside temp changes will have minimal effect on the wort after I pitch yeast).

The only thing I need now is help with setting up my brew station. I am dangerous with tools (welding-wood butchering-plumbing) and will probably build most of my own equipment, but a starting point is more than welcome. Pictures, links, recipes or even if you want to offload some gear, I am interested in seeing what you have to offer.

I would eventually like to automate the gear a bit as electronics/process control is my background. This means I will probably go electric for heat.
