Hello,

I have recently started brewing beer again after many years of chasing around hockey rinks and soccer pitches. Many years ago, I began brewing as a bet to see which of us graduate students (University of Alberta) could make the best beer. I got hooked abd joined the Edmonton Homebrewers Guild and even served as the President for a year. I have my AHBA certificate in beer judging and in the past judged in competitions and entered beer of my own. My best entry, a Strong Scotch Ale, won the "Best of Show" in the Vancouver home brew competition.

I look forward to learning from fellow Brewnosers.

:welcome:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome!
I was at UofA for a few years of grad school in the early-mid '00s, sadly didn't truly get into beer until my return to Hfx. Alley Kat and Brewsters were favourites of mine, but I know the landscape has changed a lot since then. I had grad school friends who worked at Sherbrooke Liquor. Good times!

Welcome! Nice to see my former home town represented: I grew up in Annapolis Royal until I moved away to attend St. FX and never left Antigonish, although I still get home to visit family and friends!
