Cider House Rules

Post by SocialLoner » Thu Sep 21, 2017 10:20 pm

Hello/Ola/Bonjour to all!

Since I've been residing in Cape Breton for the last few years it's been my wish to turn the abundance of wild apples around my house into some yummy hard cider. I want to use the fruits natural yeast and found some simple recipes that look newbie friendly.

First question is where can I find brew supplies at a fair price. I am in the Baddeck area. Thanks in advance for your input. Image

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a great project!

What kind of supplies do you need: brew bucket, carboy, etc? There's a homebrew shop in Port Hawkesbury that would have everything you need for the fermentation side. I don't know if they have a press, unless you have a way to extract the juice from those apples already figured out?

Thanks for info. I will certainly check out the Hawksbury shop since other than the carboy I will need everything. I saw a recipe online that can utilize my juicer to extract the juice with little effort. As soon as I am ready to brew I will post more about my process. Cheers :)
