not new to the game, just new to the process

Post by ailken » Fri Feb 05, 2021 2:15 pm

Hey folks, Bill Here,

I've been brewing for mannnny years for fun. I've made lots of different beers and wines from kits, partial grain/fruits etc but never really went all in with the all grain game.

The more I look at getting into it I am running into issues with older equipment and general worn-out-ness of some of my gear. Plastic buckets have become my nemesis so I think that's the first place I'll be looking to up my game - improved fermentation vessels.

I've been just a lurker on the forums for years.
Lots of great info around here.

Hi Bill,

Are you looking to use plastic or stainless steel? Stainless can get pricey but there are some nice options. As for plastic, I'm a big fan of the fermonster PET carboys for 5 gallon ish batches. Inexpensive and easy to clean.

Cheers,

I was thinking plastic again because of the cost.

Yeah, I was just introduced the the monsters, seems like it may be a good idea, instead of just using the glass carboy as a secondary, these carboys would be easier to clean out and scrub.

I'd like to find something larger though, but in the end, I think I am going to have to go with stainless.

I have luck with stainless kegs as fermenters.
