Hi Brewnosers! I've been mostly lurking on the forums here for a little while, trying to learn the tips/tricks/methods while deciphering the acronyms and adding new words to my vocabulary - so I figured I'm probably overdue to make an introduction.

I love drinking beer, so I figured why not start to make my own? I haven't made any yet, but hope to start around Christmas time; I'm one of those kinds of people that prefers to read/learn everything about a topic before getting hands-on. I've been advised to probably start with a FestaBrew kit or two (maybe add in some extra hops to experiment), and then advance to doing an extract kit. I'm not too keen on the bottling process, so I'm leaning towards starting right with a keg - would love to set up a tap in my man cave!

Anyways, I've run into a few members already IRL (benwedge, bobby_ok, nash, brewnoser), and look forward to meeting more of you and absorbing your knowledge :)

Michael

Sounds like you've got a good plan! Follows closesly to what we've been doing. The Festa kits are pretty tasty and a great, easy entry into the hobby. :)

Festa kits are a great way to learn how to ferment beer, and I'm sure you already know how to drink beer.

JMHO, but get comfortable with the process of cleaning/sanitizing equipment > fermenting > cleaning/sanitizing bottles > bottling > cleaning/sanitizing equipment > drinking. Then try 'hacking' a kit or two. Then the sky's the limit.
