Just getting into brewing and am finding out that the local homebrewing scene on pei seems to be pretty poor for anything beyond the tin kits. Finally found this site and am glad to see that there there is a descent scene in the maritimes at least.

Yes the stores are pretty bad around here if you want to do anything not from kits. WineKitz next to the old thats entertainment seems to be the best as I have seen them carrying the festa brews and other of the higher end kits as well as liquid yeast on occasion. But I don't know if they carry them all the time.

Luckily we are close enough to Halifax and have Dave at everwoodavebrewshop.com that keeps a good stock and cheap shipping to us.

I stopped in to winkitz the other day to pick up a few things and was talking with Brad there and he said they probably won't be getting anything other than the power kits in the future because of the poor sales on the liquid/extract kits. Other than that bad news they do have ok prices on the stuff that I needed to pick up.

I heard that there is a shop in Summerside that will order in grains, I think it was The Homebrew Shoppe.

I got my first kit from everwoodavebrewshop.com and it seemed great. it's sitting in the carboy now.

The Homebrew Shoppe is now White oak cellars and have moved. I have talked to them about getting grain in the past and didn't seem too interested in carrying it or getting it. Even if they were to get it, you would probably still be cheaper getting it from Dave or getting in on the next group buy to get a bag or 2.

Hey guys, I've just joined as well, based in Cornwall, PE too. I agree on how disappointing it is to get product here. I was just at Dave's yesterday for the first time, and so impressed! He mentioned there's people on occasion that go over and bring back individual All Grain Kits and Extract Kits from his store, yeah? Anyone know anything on that; who goes over and how to arrange?

A few of us travel in the Atl Provinces for work, and are willing to mule things to other members. I'm one of those guys, and will be heading to PEI at some point in June and/or July. If you want to order something, do so, and then put a note in the checkout that you don't mind waiting for a mule for delivery. Dave will check for other PEI orders, and then contact us travellers to let us know there is a delivery to be made, and ask about making arrangements. We're not doing it for money, just to spread the beer love. Though a bottle of homebrew in return is appreciated.

Thanks Chalmers, that's brilliant! (and I'm realizing this isn't exactly the accurate forum location to discuss this, so thanks) I don't get to Hali often at all, but I would hope I could return the favor, due to the lacking supply here...

I am just about finished getting a 2 tap keezer running this week, after swing-top bottling the past two years with the extract kits from the PEI shops (a Coopers once, but mostly the liquid Brewhouse), but did do a grain/extract Brewers Best once. This first corny keg is going to be a first run with a FestaBrew, but I came back from Hali this trip with a grain/extract recipe from Noble Grape I'm going to keg, so will see how that goes. Friends of mine in Halifax are regularly doing all grain, so I'd like to get into it. I like the idea of only doing 5 gallon batches for the kegs, rather than having the excess to bottle. I see Dave's got both all-grain and grain/extract recipes for 5 gallon, which would be ideal.

I'll plan to finish off the kits I have now, but will look forward to getting something ordered in the coming months.
