And back to spring/summer temperatures today.

Right on. And a great year indeed. I'm probably going to harvest some more today.

One of my scorpions is starting to turn yellow, finally.

My Kent peppers, halapenos I believe, are doing well size wise and are all forest green. Do they change colour upon ripening or is that the ripe colour?

Good about the scorpions.

Jalapenos turn red upon ripening, but do seem to take a while. However, they are great green, hence why most people think jalapenos are supposed to be green. I grew them one year and I'm not sure if they managed to fully ripen. In case anyone doesn't know, chipotle is red ripened jalapeno that is smoke-dried.

My first harvest of the year. A lot of work for little results. I still have lots more almost ripe and green.

I'll be making some Texas red chilli today.

I only got a few small ones, sniff sniff. But there's a few still on one plant. Something bored a hole into the biggest one though. I hope it hurts lolol.

And the deer ate one plant. Same sentiment as above, lol.

Your plants looked nice! do you save seeds from your plants?
I always grow some jalepeno plants with great results but this year I'm going to broaden my horizon and try a couple other varieties. Not sure if you're into sharing seeds?

Thanks! I don't save seeds, I order online every other year and don't mind sharing / trading / whatever.

I should order some fresh seeds in the next couple of months, probably from tomatogrowers.com and peppermania.com.

Awesome!

I'll post again when it's time to get them started. They take so long and I top mine as soon as they're ~12-16" high so it's a long process of babying them until I put them outside.

Have you ever tried to grow bhut jolokia (ghost pepper) ? I'm going to put a couple in this year to experiment, and I would most likely give the peppers away.. I find them way too hot.

I'll post before I order seeds.

Yes, I've grown Bhuts and other super hots. I agree they're insane... they last me a long time. I still have loads of scorpion pepper puree left (canned).
