Fermenting Crock

Post by RubberToe » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:29 pm

I've been in my house for over a year and haven't yet utilized the insulated cold room / cellar under my basement stairs. I went to give it a closer look this morning because I'm thinking of moving my fermenters out of the temp controlled chamber after the bulk of primary fermentation is done. That way I get get another 2 batches going.

Stored there right near the base of the stairs is thice nice old fermenting crock! SCORE! :headbang:

Judging from the size and the "2" on the side I figure it's 2 gallons. I'm going to fashion a new lid / weight from a HDPE lid, drill some holes in it, and weigh it down with water filled mason jars. I'll test it out with a batch of sauerkraut and if it goes well I'll ferment some peppers for a nice sauce.
