I wonder what the price was.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

They didn't think it was actually for sale -said it just looked like a return sitting on the floor.

Just landed myself a Vision! Smoked some ribs for the first time last night. . . they were awesome! Would like to try a pizza soon . . . do you absolutely need a deflector stone? I've been looking around but can't find much . . . any tips?

I've bought this on recommendations from folks, but have yet to use it.

There are Stokes stores in Dartmouth and Bedford (no longer at Halifax Shopping Centre).

I break those too easily. I use fire brick and cast pans.

Fire bricks work great as deflectors. I use a kamado Joe heat deflector and the Stokes pizza stone. My stokes pizza stone is 2+ years old, no issues as long as it's not on direct fire.

How do you set up fire bricks? Not sure I really get it - do you lay them on the coals?

Lay your fire bricks on your lower grate, pizza stone on upper grate.

Or, fire bricks and pizza stone on upper grate. I can post photos later.

Has anyone replaced their thermometer yet? I fired up the vision Friday night just to clean up the insides a bit, and when I went to light the chimney on Saturday morning, the thermometer was very dead. Are there decent upgrades out there? It seems that a lot of people just ignore the dome thermometer and go for a Maverick.

I use 2 -4 depending on what the cook is. I sometimes lay them on the fire box and some times on the grate.

They can also stand and reise the grate.

I had to replace the one on my egg. I bought this one:

It works and looks great.

Have you tried recalibrating it with boiling water?
