Black garlic

Post by mr x » Wed Nov 06, 2013 6:00 pm

Being all the rage now, I must try it.

Anyone know where to score some? Or make it?

There's a guy on PEI making it.

We have a bulb but haven't used it yet. We did try it at one of the local restaurants, Terra Rouge, and it was quite tasty.

I think I might gear up a toaster oven at work to cook some up, but I'll check Sobeys too.

I've never had black garlic before, is it supposed to have a completely different taste profile than white garlic?

I'm also curious about this, 'cause at $5.99 for 2 bulbs, it better be damn tasty!

Interesting read, cost seems quite reasonable based on what it takes to make: http://luckypeach.com/what-is-black-garlic/

If you're looking for some my wife randomly picked up a bottle from the Cole Harbour superstore for half price (5.00).

She says they had lots. It's got a weird flavour, almost like black licorice.
