My wife and I like the our compliments Italian sodas from Sobeys and I'm wondering how hard it would be to make some of our own

Does anyone on here make their own sodas?

You can buy Torani flavoured syrups at Second cup. They are 750ml and cost about $15. I mix this with store bought club soda for a refreshing drink in the summer. It's nice to be able to adjust the sweetness to taste.

I've been using a SodaStream for about 2 years, since I was going through about 3 cases of club soda a week. Works well. Might switch over to carbonating from a CO2 tanks as I get the keg system put together. I've heard that the Soda Stream syrups are good, although I haven't tried any of them.

Is this what I'd need if I wanted to use my current keg setup?

do I need special bottles?

I have been taking the easy route for soda: one 500mL Sodastream flavour bottle with 11 litres of water in a corny keg. Mix, hookup to 40 psi pressure in the kegerator, and wait 48 hours. I then turn down that reg to serving pressure. It does need a bump up in pressure every once in a while (we don't drink it very fast), but the results have been good.
Tried the Ginger Ale (diet and regular), Diet Coke and Coke Zero clones. Reg. Ginger Ale was the best.
I haven't yet tried making my own from scratch.

Bluenose: yes, that's the cap for you. As long as you aren't way over-carbing the water, regular pop bottles are fine. I can't find manufacturer info on their rating, but pretty sure it's 60psi+, and that is higher than you'd need to go (probably 40psi max).
