Links for newbies

Post by mthibodeau » Wed Aug 13, 2014 9:56 am

Hi,

So I saw the link library post, and while it looks like it has a lot of great info most of it is very specific and a bit advanced. I was wondering if anybody has some links to more general home brewing info? I'd like some good general reading on homebrewing, something that will help me out with terminology, concepts etc.

Thanks,

Marc

I recommend picking up a copy of The Joy of Homebrewing:
http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/the ... -item.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's the 3rd edition, 4th edition should be out soon.

John Palmers How to Brew is available to read online here: http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it is a great starting point.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

What he said - it's a great starting point!
