Why would anyone buy this?

Some products don't make any sense.

This new Speidel 1 bbl conical is nice, but it's twice as expensive as other equivalent offerings, like the Chronical (BrewMaster series):

Vs.

Full jacket vs single wall.

Sure, but the other one has an internal coil, which means that both can be controlled via glycol. And they're both small enough to stick in a freezer anyway, so it's pretty much moot.

You can get a 3 bbl single wall for less than this 1 bbl jacketed. I honestly can't imagine the situation where it would make sense to invest in a 1 bbl jacketed tank.

you also should keep in mind we pay quite a premium for all the speidel stuff on this side of the pond. It rarely makes sense financially to purchase european goods in north america.

And generally the jacket is seen as nicer than an internal coil - I can't comment on how much more a jacket would really be worth from a user's perspective, but it is easier to clean for sure.
