I just use irish moss in the kettle, and my beer is pretty clear. Not crystal clear of course, but certainly not cloudy. The main exception was the APA with 30% rye malt; that fella was thick and murky.

Is that from bottle or keg? Looks to be a ton of particulate in there, not just haze... Just wondering if it's related.

Its from a bottle. that was from a bottle i opened last week (bottled about a week and a half before i opened) i only did a one stage fermentation on that one for about 2.5 weeks (my first batch)Jimmy wrote:Is that from bottle or keg? Re: clarifying your beer?
Did you pour the whole thing out? Or is there that much particulate even with the yeast cake at the bottom of the bottle? Also when you transferred from primary to your bottling bucket, did you avoid the yeast cake or did some of that go with it?

Re: clarifying your beer?
I always found extract-based beers took forever to clear. We are brewing much clearer beer now that we've moved to All Grain and are boiling in a huge pot outside... so I think our clarifying process goes something like this:
1) A good hard boil to get a good hot break
2) Irish moss
3) Chill quickly
4) Time!
The glass you poured up there was still pretty young. But really, I don't mind a hazy beer so it's not something I obsess over.

With that particular beer i did pour the whole thing, i tried to limit the amount of trub that went with the beer into the bottling bucket. Moat of the time i leave the bottom half inch or so of liquid at the bottom if im serving to someone else but it still after almost 3 weeks in bottles is close to what that looks like in the picture.mthibodeau wrote:Did you pour the whole thing out? Has it been in the fridge for those 3 weeks, or has it been at room temp?eaglesnestbrewing wrote:With that particular beer i did pour the whole thing, i tried to limit the amount of trub that went with the beer into the bottling bucket.
