Gelatinous ball in yeast harvested from can

Post by Jthulu » Thu Jan 12, 2017 6:35 pm

I had a few cans of Heady that I harvested the yeast from a few months ago. I cleaned and star san'd the top of the can, then poured a glass and put the remainder in a sterilized mason jar with some previously boiled water. One of the jars has a white gelatinous blob in it and the other doesn't. I've seen some bread yeast mothers that look pretty suspect but ultimately fine, I wanted to make sure that this was okay as well from someone who has done this more than I have. I plan on making a starter when I use it.
