Ben,
I think I have some of the 0.5" hi-temp silicone tubing left from the last McMaster order.

If you're only looking for 6' or so, I'll hack off 6' of my stock and sell it to you for $10.

PM me if you're interested, as I don't check here as frequently as I used to,

I'm trying to decide whether I should just use copper pipe instead of silicone tubing since it is cheaper. The two downsides obviously are flexibility and ease of sanitization are a lot better with the silicone!

Know of anyone who uses copper pipe to go to a wort chiller instead of silicone tubing?
On tap: nuthin
Fermenting: Good Falcon - My Eye!
Plans: Me wanna Temptation Red

I don't see a downside at all. Only the outside contacts beer, you can dunk it in star-san. I'm considering building my chiller to connect directly to a garden hose, unless someone has a valid sanitation concern.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

I'm guessing he's not talking about an immersion chiller. For my counterflow chiller, I never even considered that the braided PVC probably wasn't suited - it's what was on the chiller when I got it.
Currently on tap: Whiter Shade of Pale!
In keg: .
In Primary: Nothing

If it's fine for the inside it's fine for the outside.
