Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I'm making a simple little pilsner. I'm wondering what should do with some hops I picked up last month, I have 10 ounces of sorachi? Any suggestions, I did like the sorachi ace but something different would be fun too

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Big day at the Brauhaus. Brewed a double-double with some help from my father-in-law. The first is a Vanilla-Cranberry Sweet Stout, for my brother's wedding at the end of December, and the second is a West Coast Rye PA.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Brewed up a Berliner Weiss with Chalmers this morning. Chilly day for it, brew strong friends

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I ended up doing two a pilsner and a bastardized version of Raison Daitre, from dog fish head, I tried it while I was in the states recently and really liked it. So why not.

the brew went very well, and it looks awesome! super clean, crystal clear, and 1.070...and then my starter crapped out! absolutely zip for yeast. 24 hrs and the only yeast in it is what I put in yesterday(bavarian lager) guess it off to get some saflager this morn.Stusbrews wrote:got a byo bock boiling away

I have had Brew House kits before and while they are OK they don't have the same quality as Festa kits.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
i've never made any brewhouse before, to be honest. smelled pretty decent. would likely be worth dry-spicing it, as i think a lot of the spice flavour will disappear after fermentation.im going to chuck some cloves and nutmeg in now actually...bluenose wrote:have you had that kind before? Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I'm trying to decide which of these three to brew...
Belgium Dubbel (6.5%)
Nut Brown (my usual nut brown, 6%)
Rye IPA (6.6%)
ESB (6%)
Heineken Clone ( 5%)
I'll definitely brew the Dubbel and the RyePA, but if I can fit a third in I'm still unsure!
The wife and kid are away this weekend so I have all weekend to brew away.

Wish me luck kids. I'm flying without a net today experimenting with my own recipe concoction: 3-hop APA using my newly converted cooler for a hybrid BIAB.

An Extra Special Bitter... my first in a few years. Going with a slightly-modified version of the 2011 NHC gold-medal winner for the English Pale Ale category.

Everyday IPA from Brooklyn Brewshop recipe book. First time brewing below freezing. Interesting experience to say the least.
