I wonder if there is any way to hustle a price match with Brenton's on that size?

I would be willing to bet they would work with someone to get the business.

I wonder if they have 2 rates, retail and B2B? My memory is foggy, but I thought we were getting a much cheaper fill when we first found them...????

They recently raised their price a bit, I think it used to be $1.95 / lb.

I'll let someone else work on discount/volume pricing. Brenton's is close enough to home for me, today's Simplex visit was on a whim after previous reports of better pricing.
To restate: for 5 lb fills, Simplex is cheapest. 10lb and higher, Don Brenton's is cheapest. Both offer very quick fill times (usually), and accept cash or credit card.

I was on the hunt for a place other than Brenton's, because the last two times I was there I had to come back the next day. I'll call before I go there again, but it looks like the choice for the 20lber.

Unfortunately I think only option is to swap at Noble Grape. Or get a loaner from a friendly Brewnoser.

Praxxair refills pressurized gas tanks. They fill the tanks at work. I asked the teck who delivers the tanks how much for CO2, he guessed $20-25. You could also get Argon or sulpher dioxide if ya wanted (although that would be horrible and expensive)!

I went to Don Brenton's just before xmas for 10 lb tank recert & refill. Dropped it off at 10, they called me at 2:30 saying it was ready. $42 out the door!

Air liquide here in Moncton is charging me $40 to recertify my 5lb tank. Not sure what the final cost is yet but I will update when I pick the tank up next week. Seems like they only fill on Friday.

I think Brunswick Fyr in the industrial park does it for less and they fill any day of the week. Though sometimes you need to leave the tank over night.NB brewer wrote:Air liquide here in Moncton is charging me $40 to recertify my 5lb tank. Anyone know of any place in PEI to fill besides T & K Fire? Preferably in the Summerside area?

Island Oxygen in Charlottetown, but only if you drop the tank on a Tuesday and pick it up the next day. Filling takes place in Moncton. It's a recent change but the cost seems to have stayed the same.

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
What's typical usage for a 5# tank? I carb'd 6 kegs....served about a total of 5 (kegs number 5 & 6 are being served now...half full...)...and the tank is empty

That seems like reasonable usage to me, but I'm going by a 20lb lasting me ~25 kegs.

How about getting a tank filled in Newfoundland?
I usually use Martin's Fire and Safety.
Any other locations?
