What a horrible brew day. Went back to the 3 vessel setup for the day and it was a clusterfuck. I had like 10L of extra wort pre-boil, royally fucked my pre-boil gravity on my DIPA...I ended up boiling for an hour before I even started timing my 90 min boil and hop additions. Then I had my first boil over..wasn't paying attention and looked outside to see wort spewing over the top and all over my patio.

When everything was all said and done, I hit my target gravity & volume so all should be good.

Glad to hear that you are using your setup a higher purpose than BIAB! Good show.

Mash Hop
Almost to the end of the sacch rest for my harvest ale. 13oz fresh Columbus in the mash. Going to be a ridiculously hoppy beer, but harvest time only comes once a year, so why not?

Making this tomorrow its a sorta clone of Ten Penny fromthe States, don't have a clone for the old ten penny I drank 20 or so years ago from the maritimes. Ideas?
Ten Penny[/b]

Original Gravity (OG): 1.051
Colour (SRM): 10.4
Bitterness (IBU): 33.0

91.27% American 2-Row
5.48% Crystal 60
0.91% Crystal 120
0.51% Roasted Barley
1.83% Rauchmalt

0.7 g/l Zeus (16.4% Alpha) @ 60 Minutes (Boil)

Single step Infusion at 66°C for 60 Minutes. Boil for 60 Minutes

Fermented at 20°c with London Ale 111
Drinking: Red Hook clone
Waiting on: Fruit beer

Efficiency on the Ten Penny was only 57%, not sure what happened. Did everything same as usual but only came out with an og of 1041.
Drinking: Red Hook clone
Waiting on: Fruit beer

Brewed a random unknown strain fresh-hop brew on Sunday.

Some friends moved into a place that had ready to pick (a little past ready, actually) hops growing over the back deck.
Managed to salvage about 11oz of em - a bunch were starting to brown and show mildew :(

Since there were so few, I tossed in 1.5oz of columbus at 60 for a little extra bitter kick and continually pitched the fresh hops over the last 20 minutes of the boil as I inspected and cleaned em up.
None left over for dry hop but it should hopefully still be tasty. I'll try to keep some around for November's meeting - maybe we can collectively figure out what hops i've stumbled upon :p
