Planning a gruit in the near future, and while I definitely have access to wormwood, heather tips etc.
I was hoping to find some local ingredients for bittering/aromatics. Does anyone here have any experience foraging local weeds to be used in place of hops?
Where do I start? I've done some reading and Earth eagle brewings seem to know whats up, but again I'm looking for uniquely NS ingredients.
help?

Never made one myself, but was considering something similar a few years ago. A buddy lent me a Nova Scotia field guide, exactly the kind of thing you'd be looking for. I wrote down a bunch of things that sounded good from it, but never got around to making it happen.

Not really helpful, but I visited Earth Eagle on a epic beer road trip last year. Really did not like them. All their beers seemed to have a sort of tanic, herbal bitterness, even the hopped beers. Wasn't a fan, but maybe gruits just aren't my thing.

Funny, I remember enjoying Earth Eagle when we visited them, but maybe that was the company and servers.
