Dry ESB yeast

I bought a yeast I haven't used before. It's the Danstar ESB yeast. Wondering if anyone has used it and comment on its flavour profile, attenuation etc. I have checked other forums but there seems to be varying results. Planning on using it on a red ale with low hop levels to get a feel for it.

There's considerable discussion and comparison from several brewers, including myself, from about midway through this thread:

Ive only used it once myself, and experienced the same thing that everyone i know also experienced. It crapped out at 1.020. Won't ferment any lower than that.

Same here. Was difficult to clear as well. I thought it was just me after not brewing for 10 years but once I did a couple batches with s04/5 I won't use it again. I have a package in the fridge for free if anyone wants it :)

I used it a few times and didn't like it. I found it was fairly neutral and didn't provide the character I get from S-04 or 05. Won't use it again.

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with it...it was okay and attenuated to around 1016 if I recall...the brew called for 1011 thereabouts...it started to clear nicely but then stalled and took forever and finally I used gelatine while cold crashing it. The beer was fine but if I was to do it again, I'd likely use the Safale 04, 05 or Nottingham.
