change of flavor

Post by wader98 » Wed Dec 27, 2017 12:59 pm

Maybe a hard question to answer but I made a APA (can post recipe if needed), and my first glass after a week of carbonation in keg came out awesome. Probably the best beer I made so far, more juicy then bitter.
A couple days later pulled another glass and it was not as good as the first. Beer is OK but feels like it has picked up a grassy taste. What would cause beer to go from good to OK in the keg with grassy bitterness? I also have a two hearted clone that has experienced roughly the same taste.

Could be a couple things. Post up your recipe and procedure for dry hopping and for racking to keg.

Mashed @ 152F for 60 minutes

Brewed the batch on the November 23rd. Dry hopped on the 9th of December (took bung out and just tossed the pellets in the carboy. Started cold crashing to 34F on the 12th and kegged on the 14th. When racking to keg i just use the sterile carboy transfer kit from Everwood (Stainless racking cane with rubber hood and sterile air filter). I do not push the starsan out with CO2 so maybe it's oxizidation? Also when hooking up keg to CO2 i only burped the keg twice.
Beer sat on the co2 for a week and tried my first glass on the 21st and tasted and smelt delicious. The aroma is not as strong as it was and it's taken on a grassy taste (not a smooth hop flavor)
I use the same method for all my beers and they all kinda taste the same. So next keg i will either try a closed transfer or at least flush the starsan out with co2.
