Brewed up my house Honey Wheat this morning. It's a crowd pleaser around here. Good to have on hand for the holidays.

Got to use my new Mash tun cozy that I made based on this article:

https://byo.com/stories/issue/item/3315 ... y-projects

And it's fermenting away in my new ferm chamber (4.4 Danby fridge with STC -1000)

Pulled a double duty yesterday in the basement brewery. Attempted my first partigyle. Went with a 6 gal batch of a Russian Imperial stout and then brewed a smaller stout with the 2nd runnings. Worked out pretty good...hit 1.101 for the RIS and 1.053 for the 2nd stout. Both 6 Gal batches. I did add a few lbs of grain to the mashtun for the 2nd round...a mix of 2 row, midnight wheat, chocolate, and c40. Very rewarding day...although a long one!

Mashing in on a quasi Deception Bay IPA - take 2. Had to substitute huell melon hops for el dorado - Everwood didn't have any huell melon and El dorado sound delicious.

Did the first brew on my electric system today. Aside from a few hiccups (read: shit show) at times, managed to hit my numbers and brew what I think will be 60L of a solid Smoked Porter. Tomorrow’s task is 60L of NE APA.

Just mashed in a 10 gallon batch of black IPA. I've never made this before so hoping for something tasty! Let me know what you think

20.5lb 2 row
2 lb munich
1 lb Vienna
1.5 lb chocolate
0.5lb cara Pils
1lb Crystal 15

For hops I'm thinking:
1.5oz simcoe 60min
1oz citra 15min
1oz Amarillo or Eldorado 5min
0.5oz citra 2min

Mash 150°F 60 min

Nice! Early morning brews are best in my house with young ones running around haha. Done by lunch and keeps the peace. I haven't decided what yeast yet. Think I may split this up into two fermenters and use wlp001 and MJ Liberty bell

Busy brew week for me. Brewed a berliner on Tuesday night (w/ pincherry yeast) and my Kolsch Garrison entry last night. Might be cutting it close for lagering time...fingers crossed.

Side note...man that pincherry yeast ferments fast! From crazy activity to nothing in under 24 hrs.

Just did a version of the Short and Shoddy approach that they talk about on brulosophy. Pale Ale - 13lbs 2row, 1lb wheat malt, 1lb flaked oats

A full volume -30 minute mash with no
Sparge

30 minute boil
Was expecting about 50% efficiency so I planned for 1.047 OG but I got 1.060

With clean up it took just under two hours

Hopefully it turns out.

Back to back IPA's yesterday and today.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Half way through the mash on a Scottish Fraoch (Heather Ale), taking advantage of the mild weather...
