What's everyone brewing?

Post by BBrianBoogie » Sun Nov 28, 2010 5:22 pm

I just finished up a milk stout. Got a little better efficiency than usual, so it turned out 5 points higher than expected.

I'm brewing the Alexander's Keith's Stag's Head Stout next Friday...

I put up an ESB made with Halcyon base.

I too got a bit better efficiency that normal. Must have been something in the air.

That sounds good. Let us know if you think that base malt does anything different for taste.

Unfortunately, just a Cream Ale as favour for a buddy who gave me two cornelius kegs. He wanted Keiths IPA, so I figured a light hybrid ale with lots of adjunct and low hop presence (waving a bag of hops across the top of the kettle ;) ) would be close. It sure was cheap to make though!

Brewed up some Pilsner and a Rauchbier.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I made mine last weekend. Hope it's working alright - had to throw it in the secondary a little early to catch a plane for Florida. Do any of you world travelers know where to get good beer in Orlando (a store, not a pub)?
Currently on tap: Nothing!
In keg: Still nothing.
In Primary: Doggone American Rye Pale Ale

Last time I was there I had really good luck finding great brews at Big C Liquors on Winter Park, and Knightly Spirits. I was surprised by the excellent beer selection.

So what's everyone got on the go this weekend? I'm brewing a pale ale and some Black Sheep Riggwelter from CYBI

I'm doing one last 10 gal batch of my No-phale Pale with the propane burner before I go totally electric.

I am going to try to clone a Baltika Wheat Ale. It is one of my favorite beers of all time. I can't get it here in Nova Scotia, so I guess I will have to make it. :geek:

Hope it goes well, and if you have success, hope you feel like sharing the recipe, cuz if you can't get it here, neither can we

If it comes out I will of course share. Their website lists their ingredients, but as you know, that is just one little part of the brewing process.

I'm planning to brew up some graff (recipe here). I've only ever had some really dry ciders, or strongbow. I have no idea whether it will turn out... but that's how I always feel!
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

Please, please, please pick up some Cigar City while down there. Great beer that is impossible to pick up North of the border.

I picked up a bottle of Cigar City Humidor Series IPA last time I was there. It was aged in Cedar. I wish I had picked up more, it was fantastic.

That's a quick turn-around for a pilsner.

I did a Stella Artois clone on request for a buddy of mine. Its not something I would have chosen to do for myself, but I do what I can to foster intrest in homebrewing in others

Hit my numbers right on and had great efficiency (86% into the kettle), so he makes a good assistant brewer!
