Re: What's everyone brewing?
After a bit of a hiatus, I've been on a tear as of late. Brewed a malty session lager, a rye lager, and then, since I didn't think the lager had enough rye, a pale ale based on the same malt build, but with twice the rye. Unfortunately, I buried it in hops. Whoops

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Pipelines been empty for awhile so I'm throwing together a quick Pale Ale with mostly Marris Otter, Citra, Amarillo and Falconers flight with Thames Valley Yeast. I've used it before in an APA and IPA and I like what does.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Brewed up an IPA and a light ale yesterday.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
What temp did you mash in? I took the advice of multiple brewers and went 4 F over what Promash said to. It was too high, 156 F. I will mash at my usual temp from my old system next time.

Mashed in around 162F, and right after recirc started, it was right in the ballpark for both my thermapen and controller display.McGruff wrote:What temp did you mash in? First brew with the new robobrew today. A simple pale ale.
Already up to mash temp when I woke up this morning. I think I’m gonna like this.

- will definitely take McGruff’s advice and just place robobrew on milk crate. I used work benches so that could vent out basement window. But lifting 5.5 kg of grain while standing on a chair was a bit precarious. I used the milk crate idea when cleaning it and MUCH easier.
- will have to sparge with a bit my water. I used 5 L this time - maybe 10 next time. Not used to sparring as I never used to when I BIAB’d.
- finally, I seemed to have to crank temp up to 248°F to keep a good boil. Even though it was set to 248°F only ever reached 215°F.
Just some minor things - but love ease of use and cleaning. Should be able to make the next brew day a little more efficient.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
I have a spare silicone hose and read if you out it on the bottom valve and tie it up near the recirculating arm, it will tell you your level when sparging. I will do it on my next brew session.
