Brewed an IPA today. Still using my Chinook hops I bought in bulk last year. Think I will buy a few different hops this time in smaller quantities.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Brewed for the first time in a couple years. Hornindal yeast 4.5kg of maris otter and four ounces of us goldings with a target IBU of 30.
Anyone use omegas hornindal yeast? Were you able to get the stone fruit esters to come through?

Re: What's everyone brewing?
I've used Hornindal once, I found I did get some of the caramel that's cited sometimes which for the beer I was brewing I wasn't too crazy about. That said, I've also had other beers made with it where it wasn't present or at least as pronounced.Celiacbrew wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:11 pmBrewed for the first time in a couple years. Brewed a pale ale today, trying out some Voss kveik and testing out the Grainfather as a fermenter with the temp set to 30 (although I see it's good to 42, so I might up it to 35).

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Do you know if it was caramel or the oxidation flavour that tastes kind of like caramel? If it was the oxidation character maybe I will skip the heater.ConanTroutman wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 5:22 pm

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Used up a bunch of hops that are supposed to have a lot of hop survivables. DIPA with a simple grist and around 200g of whirlpool hops. I will dry hop with galaxy once fermentation slows. Using voss and should ferment in the upper twenties.
