I'll be brewing a double batch this week. Will be my first brew in 6 weeks. Itching to get started; Grain will be weighed and Milled tonight; Hops and water additions weighed out. :cheers2:

First batch is a classic light ale for mom. Crazy lady likes this nonsense; but she only asks for it once in a blue moon. Gotta keep her happy haha.. The second will be my first real attempt at a Kettle Sour and is a request of my wifes. Unsure if this will be a plain sour or if I'll be racking it onto fruit. Time will tell.

It's been a busy brewing month by my standards: made an APA, Heffe, Wit, and still fermenting my crack at an Urquel clone from BYO (dialed up the saaz a bit though). A few pics:

I started a partial mash Zombie Dust clone a couple days ago. Smelled and tasted great pre-fermentation. I'm looking forward to see how it turns out:

Settled in to Kelowna, have 4 batches bottled so far (motueka sour pale ale, a grisette with cascade and orange peel, a special bitter, and a "session-ized" version of an old rasputin stout clone) and another 4 in fermenters (a straight ahead saison to try out the blaugies yeast, a rye table saison with brett brux and blaugies, a tripel-ish base beer with voss kveik yeast instead of abbey yeast, and a gose with lacto and voss kveik).

Planning on trying a milkshake IPA next (lactose, mango, vanilla, citra, omega hothead ale yeast)

Brewed a Berliner Weisse on the weekend - kettle soured, Strisselspalt hops (thanks Keith - thought this was a good place to give it a go). Will hit it with raspberries later in the week and spend a month trying to keep the offspring out of it!! LimePA ready to brew tonight.

I brewed my first Berliner a week ago. Already on the berries. I'll be kegging it this week, along with the light lager.

Let me know how those hops work :rockin:

Brewed up a Barleywine and Brett IPA on saturday.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Just did a light lager/ale with Moteuka hops on the weekend, one half with W34/70 and the other with K97. I'm curious to see how different they might be.

Finished up a batch of Denny Conn's Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter yesterday, the wort tasted great and now it's happily fermenting.

I haven't brewed for 6 months due to a hectic travel schedule, but I finally had some time last week to try and catch up and fill my kegs. I put on a standard Weizen and Liver Dance's Blonde Ale recipe last week, and a Galaxy/Pilsen SMaSH DIPA on Monday.

Started a 10gal Fullers ESB clone today.
That will be my third English ale. Old speckled hen, London Pride and ESB. I like my English beers.
My wife is going back to the UK in a week or so to visit family. I am trying to persuade her to being me a Beer Engine back.
Not having much luck. Can pick one up for around $100 but shipping and import duty adds another $100.
Beer coolers go for around $200 -300 but 240v and who knows how much shipping. Been thinking about getting one of my old mates to fill me a crate and send it over!
Drinking: Best Coast IPA, Old Speckled Hen Clone, Northern Lights (NG),
Belgian Saison, Blonde Ale, Toy Soldier Stout(OBK) and 14G batch of ESB.
Fermenting: Taking a rest!
Scheduled: Another 10G of Toy Soldier Stout.

after a couple weeks of my gear being buried in the garage (other people moving into the house) I finally knocked out that milkshake IPA I mentioned a while back. Adding fruit and dry hops in the next couple days and will keg at the end of the week.

What I'm really excited about is a tart (not fully sour) saison concept that's a culmination of a few tricks I've learned on MTF. I have three starters going for it right now - White labs saison 2, the yeast bay beersel brett blend, and omega labs lacto blend (brevis and plantarum) - planning on splitting a batch 3 ways, running 8 litres off 30 minutes into the 90 minute boil before I've added any hops and diluting with another 8 litres of boiled water in a no chill cube. The now 16 litres of session strength (1.030 og-ish) wort will get put into two 3 gallon carboys - one will be hit with omega hothead ale yeast and some lacto to make a berliner (probably fruited, haven't decided), one will be hit with some of the saison 2 starter first, then the lacto and brett afterwards. The remaining 1.06x (depending on how much extra gravity I gain in the other 60 minutes of the boil - frankly the boiloff rate on the grainfather is not that huge) wort will be hopped to about 30 ibu with NZ hops and chilled with the grainfather CFC (thinking 100% nelson sauvin) and split into two 3 gallon carboys - one gets saison 2 and no bugs, one gets saison 2 and beersel brett. The hoppy saison 2 beer and the berliner both get bottled straight, the two saisons (hoppy and sour) which have beersel in them are going to get blended for a beer that's 15 ibu and half-sour. The berliner and the non-tart nelson saison are just basically "free" beers out of this splitting experiment, the real objective was the biere de coupage blended saison which I'm hoping to refine into a commercial recipe down the road - which in honor of how much I've learned from communities like this one and milk the funk I intend to name "shoulders of giants".

We've been killing the sour. Going to try and knock a new batch out this week while the kids are away.
Not sure if I'm sticking with Raspberries or not. May try another fruit but it was delicious!

Keith, did you go with Jimmy's recipe for kettle soured Berliner?
