Candi syrup

Post by Bowserm » Mon Feb 12, 2018 9:26 pm

I’m not even sure where to post this, but I’m looking at doing a quad. The recipe calls for candi syrup 90 and 180.

I see Dave only sells 80. Does anyone know where I can find some in N.S.? I searched on OBK and I am not paying 15.00 for shipping for 2lb of sugar

Waiting to hear back on the group buy to see if it’s an option to get a bunch of the stuff.

There's no candi syrup on the list. I've been getting the D-180 at Maritime Wine & Beer. IMO D-180 is the best... the candisyrup line is amazing. You guys should try date syrup too, it's my secret weapon for dubbels and quads.
Electric Brewery Build
On tap at RubberToe's:
Sometimes on a Sunday Belgian Dubbel, Oaked Old Ale, Ordinary Bitter

Thanks for the tip. I friggin love the d-180 I just used it in a Doppelbock that I missed my gravity and loved it on that as well.

Apparently a secret weapon of some is to use raisins. Im gonna try that.

I've done raisins at the end of the boil as well, can't recall the amount, as per a Dubbel recipe in Brew Like a Monk.
On tap: APA, Dubbel, Dark Mild
Fermenting: Brett Saison 2022, Schwarzbier, APA, Sour Brown,
Coming up: American Wheat (Fruited), Vienna Lager, Dortmunder
Bottled: Brett Saison 2020, Brett Saison 2021, Baltic Porter

Thanks Sandy. I’ll see when I’m going to make a trip and call ahead of time.

I didn’t realize you could add raisins end of boil. Would I leave them in fermenter or separate them out after chilled after boil?

I separated mine to avoid any of nasties living on them, I can’t remember if I threw them in at flameout or for the last 5 minutes I’ll need to check my recipe.
