Special Roast

Anyone know where I could get some Special Roast? Or a suitable replacement?

I am planning to make this recipe for strong scotch ale with my brother sometime in the next week or two (before he goes away for work for ~4 months). We figure we brew it now, bottle it a month or two later, and then enjoy some of the fruits of the labour when he gets back. In any case, it calls for Special Roast, which I don't think Noble Grape sells, and we don't really have time to order any online. Some places recommend using Victory Malt as a replacement, others suggest nothing works to replace it... what do you guys think?

For special roast, it is tricky. You might try taking some crystal malt, maybe in the 25 to 40 L range (approx 50 to 80 EBC), wet it down, let it stand for a day at room temp, then toasting it up in the oven. Use maybe 250 to 300F until the color is slightly darker than the untoasted. Not sure how well that would work, since I've never tried it, but I'd think it should get you close."
